This page’s history

    Operator precedence and functions

    Parentheses come first, followed by functions, factorial and percent, powers, multiplication/division, and addition/subtraction. Powers associate to the right: 2^3^2 = 512. −2^2 = −4; (−2)^2 = 4.

sin, cos and tan use the selected DEG or RAD mode. asin, acos and atan return angles in that same mode. log means base-10 logarithm; ln means natural logarithm. The % symbol divides the preceding value by 100: 200 × 10% = 20, but 100 + 20% = 100.2. Use the percentage calculator for commercial discounts.

    Precision and limits

Real-number calculations use browser floating-point precision; results are displayed to 13 significant digits. Factorial accepts integers from 0 to 170. Division by zero and out-of-domain functions show an error, not an invented result. Ans recalls the last result. History stays on this page only and disappears on reload.
